TINTAGEL ~ CORNWALL, UK
.
Tintagel is located on a rocky Peninsula, on the northwest coast of Cornwall.
Tintagel is an area that is steeped in myths and legends.
It is home to the ruins of a twelfth-century castle, said to be the home of the legendary King Arthur.
At the base of the peninsula, is Merlin’s Cave.
The wizard was said to reside in the cave underneath the castle
It’s said that Merlin spends his afterlife in the cave.
Merlin’s spirit is often spotted emerging from the cave, and can be heard muttering in an unknown language ~ perhaps he is still casting his spells in this magical area!
Other than Merlin, there are four more resident ghosts tied to Tintagel.
Three of these ghosts are said to haunt the nearby Camelot House Hotel.
These spirits are often getting up to mischief….
They knock paintings off the walls, upturn the hotel bins and have even woke guests in the night, to give them bed baths!!
Another of the ghosts is said to be that of a former hotel employee, who died in the 1940’s.
The spectre is seen walking the path from the hotel to his cottage ~ which was once owned by actress Kate Winslet!
