HIGH SCHOOL GAME (SEASON 1) CHAPTER 11

HIGH SCHOOL GAME (SEASON 1)

CHAPTER 11

‘I won’t be in school tomorrow’ Jason said to his friends after they’ve exchanged pleasantries.

‘Huh’ Chain and Jasper said together.

‘I’m not kidding’

‘You can’t be serious dude, we’ve got chemistry practicals tomorrow and you better be prepared for that okay?’ Chain said looking worried.

‘I guess he is still angry’. Said Jasper

‘Angry about what?’ Jason asked furiously

“Jason, I know you are upset, but this isn’t the right time, there are lots of beautiful girls in our class, I’m afraid you are already having feelings for her” Jasper said putting his hands in his pocket and looking at the new Chinese table on the corridor of Jason’s kitchen.

“Say that again and I’m gonna rip off your thirty two teeth right here in front of everyone” Jason said aggressively.

‘Hey guys, we’ve been friends for a very long time, this shit shouldn’t be happening because of a little girl.’ Chain stood in the middle to prevent blows from any angle.

The three friends spent the rest of the day together in silence, just playing video games.

It was a bright new morning and also the day for the practical as everyone sat silently waiting patiently for the chemistry teacher.

I began to feel worried, because Jason hasn’t showed up yet, and I really couldn’t ask anyone, not even Emily who was busy doing some calculations.

“Hello!” Emily said as she tapped my shoulder

“What are you thinking of? You aren’t revising your notes” Emily said

‘Hmmm nothing really (I inserted my hand into Emily’s). I was just thinking about my big brother’ I lied.

Lying was one thing I vowed never to involve myself in, but seems I was beginning to get into it slowly especially as I really didn’t want anyone to know my exact feelings for Jason.

(Few Minutes to the Practical)
Someone walked into the class, dragging his feet on the floor which caught everyone’s attention. Jason was always like that, he was some kind of stubborn he-goat. I raised my head up slowly and looked straight into his eyes and so did Jason into mine.

I smiled, but Jason ignored me and then I immediately regretted smiling.

After the practical was over, I tried many ways to get the attention of who my heart beats for, but to no avail, I did lots of funny things which amused the class but Jason gave no concern, the more I tried to let go of Jason’s thought, the more I find myself falling for him, like the water which spilled to the soil and can never be separated from it.

It hurts me the more when Ella whom never talked to Jason before began doing that for the first time and feeling bold and proud about it.

I felt like picking a fight with Ella, but what if questions began to rise or what if my parents get to know about it? I sat down feeling burns in my heart, it was as if my very essence was taken away from me.

I was getting frustrated by Ella’s display, then I stood up and left the classroom for the library. That Ella of a girl was really full of herself, so annoying.

I breathe out and took a seat while looking around the library, and then I spotted a big, hard, book cover well designed with blue and white colour very beautiful. I took it and dust it off. It was the school’s album. I went back and sat down.

I was about to open the album to see some photos when Emily entered,

“Hey Star, why did you leave the class? Don’t tell me you were jealous of Ella trying to impress your crush?” Emily said

“Nop, what are you talking about?” I pretended not to know what she was talking about.

“Hey Star, it was written in your eyes, you were jealous” she insisted

“Oh Emily whatever. By the way take a look at this album” I said not for anything but just to change the topic.

“Oh Star! This was the album Mrs. Catie was looking for. It contains all the school history and past events of the school.

Common we need to show Mrs. Catie the Album let’s go.

” Emily held my hand and pulled me off my seat while we left the library. While we were walking to Mrs. Catie’s office, I stopped to ask Emily a question.

“Umm Emily why do we need to give Mrs. Catie this album?” I asked

“I heard her asking one of the senior students about the book but it looked like they both don’t know where the book was. Let’s go. Hurry up” She replied and then we continued walking.

We soon arrived at Mrs. Catie’s office and on the door was written (Principal Admin Office) then Emily knocked the door.

“Yes come in ” a much matured female voice responded and then we went in one after the other. Without taking her eyes off the computer on her desk she asked

“How can I help you?”

“Ma’am we found this album in the library and we thought to br__”

Emily didn’t even finish her sentence when Mrs. Catie took her eyes off the computer that was pretty much arranged neatly on her table.

“Oh girls how can I ever thank you. I’ve looked for this album everywhere. I will reward you for this.” She said

“No Ma’am you don’t have to” Said Emily while I nodded in agreement.

“Thank you girls” said Mrs. Catie and then we both quickly left her office back to our classroom.

Later that day, the bell went off for all students to meet at the hall for announcements. The hall was noisy as everyone was looking for a place to sit down and then Mrs Catie walked in.

“Enough with the noise students. Without taking much of your time I would like to announce to you that tomorrow, Friday, we will be orienting our new students.

We will discuss many things especially about the past events of this great school.

Everyone was quiet and then I saw Jasper turned to Jason

“Man, I thought there won’t be any orientation” Jasper said as Jason smiled then turned to look at me.

He caught me looking at him and then I quickly turned away.

“That’s all for now students. I wish you all the best. And I’ll advice that we all come to school tomorrow, early, especially our new students. Good day!
