January 5th, 1913 – Battle of Limnos
During the 1st Balkan War (1913), this Naval Battle involved the 2nd and final attempt of the Ottoman Empire to break through the Dardanelles, defeat the Greek Navy and claim Naval supremacy in the Aegean Sea.
It was once again, not to be for the Turks.
A decisive Greek victory saw the Turks lose 3 ships and suffer a combined 200 casualties, around 50 of those being deaths.
To the Greek tally of having 1 wounded.
Greece retained control of the Aegean, a position it holds to this day.
