Breaking news: Scientists have discovered another human ancestor from Kenya, who is 3 million years older than Lucy from Ethiopia.
This newly discovered first human ancestor is called Millennium Man and is believed to be 7 million years old.
Here’s all you need to know about our former world’s first ancestor Lucy before this new one was discovered:

-SPECIES:: Australopithecus afarensis
SIZE: 1 meter tall, 30 kilograms
FAMILY: Associated with both Homo and Australopithecus, but it’s complicated
HOMETOWN: Hadar in Ethiopia; now resides at the National Museum of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa

Former U.S. President Barack Obama confirmed during his presidency in 2015 that Ethiopia is the birthplace of humankind, stating that “every single person” on the planet shares an origin in Africa.
With this recent discovery in Kenya of a 7 million-year-old ancestor, it is now conceivable that even older ancestors, perhaps exceeding 10 million years, might be discovered in Igboland in the near future.
