ON SOUN OF OGBOMOSO VS IMAM OGBOMOSO (Part 2)

ON SOUN OF OGBOMOSO VS IMAM OGBOMOSO (Part 2)

For clarity and objectivity’s sake, I present the assertions of two colleagues on the Soun/Chief Imam feud (in addition to the claims of some Ogbomoso Muslim leaders) to allow for a balanced view of the crisis:

“The narrative that Soun has always appointed Imam Agba is a creation of the anti- Imam sir.
What Soun does majorly is consenting whoever emerges from the Islamic procedure.
The one in question is not different. He, alongside other contenders went through interviews, screening before his emergency, it was after that he was presented to Soun in line with tradition of the community.
To consenting, I want believe is different from appointing authority. Except if anyone will tell us here the screening was done by Soun- in Council. I stand to be corrected sir”.
– Dayo Ogunsola.

“The Soun *NEVER* appointed the Imam. He was not part of the screening and the screening committee were not entirely from Ogbomoso.

The gap I see here is that the Muslim Community agreed in the past that Oba, as the father of all should consent to the appointment.

For those who don’t know, the problem started when this Imam stopped the mosque money to be spent for personal affairs. They fought very badly but lost and resorted to collaborating with some family members and later headed to the palace.
It is important to understand to know the background”.
– Dr Ridwan Kolawole.

The only glaring anti imam is Ayilara families not soun nor ogbomoso Muslims community.

The Soun has the authority to choose whoever he likes to be imam. for instance, the immediate past imam was chosen by soun not on merit nor the family, if it was on merit, the Sheikh Aleem should have emerged as imam but because of misunderstanding between oba jimoh oyewumi and Sheikh Aleem, Sheikh Asafa was single handedly turbaned by Soun,

The palace has no authority on any churches and other central mosque in ogbomoso as we all known that, no central church, no chief pastor of ogbomoso, no chef Reveren and no chief bishop in ogbomoso but chief imam. This mosque according to the history was built by Oba Olayode
‘OK’ OLE ESU TAN, OTUN KO TO’LOHUN S’EGBERE.

This scenario once happened at ikorodu, where the central mosque owned by the Ayangburen of ikorodu and the imam chooses by king but later those who go against idea built their central mosque and name it ORIWU CENTRAL MOSQUE while IKORODU CENTRAL MOSQUE is not affected till date.

Heaven will not fall if AJILETE CENTRAL MOSQUE is built and it will never be under Soun while the OGBOMOSO CENTRAL MOSQUE will continue is existing.
