Nikolaos Sialmas (1965 – June 18, 1992)
From Thermo in Sterea Ellada, Sialmas was the first Hellenic Air Force pilot to lose his life, protecting the Greek skies from the coward Turks.
After the radars of the Greek air defense system, identified 4 unknown traces entering Greek airspace, Sialmas took off first to intercept them.
In the ensuing skirmish at low altitude, Sialmas lost his life, over the island of Agios Efstratios.
