New Bill Passes First Reading: Aba State Joins the Igbo Statehood Frenzy!
A bill for the creation of Aba State, sponsored by Hon. Ginger O. Onwusibe, passed its first reading in the House of Representatives yesterday.
The bill, sponsored by Hon. Ginger Onwusibe and three others, aims to increase the total number of states in the South East region to six, bringing it in line with other geopolitical zones in Nigeria that have more than five states.
According to the bill, the proposed Aba State will comprise nine local government areas: Aba North, Aba South, Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South, Obingwa, Osisioma Ngwa, Ugwunagbo, Ukwa East, and Ukwa West.
According to him, the creation of Aba State is will drive significant development in South Eastern Nigeria, opening up opportunities for the growth of mega cities, commerce, and industries, benefiting the entire nation.
