FAZ DEVELOPMENT CORNER: Western Administrators Undergo Management Training
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has continued its upskilling program for administrators with clubs in Western province undergoing administrative induction.
FAZ president Andrew Kamanga says the association will continue to organize workshops aimed at improving the quality of football at the grass root level.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the Western Province FAZ Administrators Workshop in Mongu, Kamanga said the FA’s desire was to have a cadre of administrators who are well vested in the modern techniques of football administration.
“As FAZ, we will continue to organize such workshops aimed at improving the quality of football at the grass root level. Our desire is to have a cadre of administrators who are well vested in the modern techniques of football administration. It is therefore my hope that the knowledge you have acquired today will be shared with your colleagues who have not had an opportunity to be with us today,” Kamanga said.
“I am pleased to mention that western province is among the provinces that has shown progress in the implementation of our decentralization policy, whose main objective is to empower the provincial leadership in the management of football as well as attain financial independence from the FAZ Secretariat. However, one of the challenges which has also been observed in all the provinces is the lack of corporate sponsorship for the local league. It is therefore my appeal to business houses within the province to take up the challenge of sponsoring either the league or individual clubs as a way of supporting football development in the province”.
He hoped the well-structured worship helps administrators run football better.
“It is our hope that after this well-structured workshop, we will begin to see an improvement in the way administrators run the game. I want to thank you most sincerely for taking part in this workshop. More gratitude goes to those who have travelled long distances from within the province. I am confident that the knowledge acquired will be for the greater good of football in western province,” said Kamanga.
“As part of our objective to expose the provincial teams to competitive tournaments, we decided to include the provincial champions from across the provinces to participate in the prestigious Absa Cup which is held annually. I am happy to announce that our own Barotse Crocs managed to put up a brave performance at the on-going tournament and have since qualified to the round of sixteen. We therefore urge you to give them all the support as they proceed to the next stage of the competition. The expanded model of the ABSA Cup will now be a permanent model aimed at incentivizing teams in the lower leagues”.
And Western Province Chairperson David Simwinga said club management was the bedrock to the development of football.
“It gives me great pleasure to see our administrators gather in such a way and learn how to manage our clubs in the province. Club management is an important aspect to the development of soccer ,therefore ,we have to attach importance to this workshop. The workshop will teach us the importance of good management and principles that will allow us to develop our teams to a level where we will be able to compete effectively. It Carter’s a wide range of areas including financials of the club, player development and the management of our teams,” Simwinga said.
“We can only enrich ourselves with knowledge through such workshops . I urge you administrators to take advantage of this workshop and learn how we can manage and run our teams effectively”.
The participants will have the benefit of being upskilled in administration, club licensing, marketing and promotions, laws of the game, competitions management and referee matters.
Participants are drawn from the entire province’s FAZ leagues. FAZ has routinely conducted training for administrators in the last few years to appraise them with global management trends.
Provincial chairperson David Simwinga and his executive are all in attendance with FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga among the delegation from the secretariat.
