GOV. FUBARA AND RIVERS PDP DE-MARKETING RIVERS STATE BY THEIR INCESSANT ATTACKS ON THE PRESIDENCY, NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND OTHER FEDERAL INSTITUTIONS

GOV. FUBARA AND RIVERS PDP DE-MARKETING RIVERS STATE BY THEIR INCESSANT ATTACKS ON THE PRESIDENCY, NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND OTHER FEDERAL INSTITUTIONS.

The Chairman and members of the Rivers State APC Caretaker Committee call on Gov Fubara and the PDP to seize forthwith, the de-marketing of Rvers State

It is public knowledge that late last year-2023, Gov. Sir Siminalayi Fubara and the Rivers State House of Assembly disagreed wherein, processes of impeachment against the Governor were initiated. Hurriedly, Governor Fubara ran to the President-Bola Ahmed Tinubu for intervention to save him from a move to remove him from the office for ‘misconduct’.
The President’s intervention through the Presidential Proclamation for Peace in Rivers State which the belligerents-Gov. Fubara and Speaker- Martins Amaewhule(for the House of Assembly) signed.

It will interest you to know that up till the time of this press release, Gov. Fubara has vehemently refused to implement the critical part of the Presidential Proclamation for Peace which will lead ultimately to lasting peace, political stability, good governance and development of our dear state. Rather, Gov Fubara and the PDP have resorted to subterfuge to derail the peace process through constant personal verbal attacks against the President/or some of the contents of the proclamation for peace and through proxies or cronies who continue to challenge the peace process of the President through sponsored court litigations.

To say the least, this is an affront on the Presidency and the consequences are far reaching. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s magnanimity and time in intervening in the disagreement which Gov. Fubara requested him to, have been vitiated by the lack of commitment to peace in the state and the outright DISRESPECT to the person and office of the president and commander-in-Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR

A couple of days, ago, Gov. Fubara and the PDP attacked the President of the Senate-Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio during a solemn program- the funeral of the Wigwes.
Gov. Fubara who fired the first salvo against protocol was reprimanded by the most senior government official at the event to avoid playing politics in occasions such as that. The Senate President led the Federal Government delegation to the event.
Gov Fubara and the PDP resorted to threatening the Senate President- Godswill Akpabio by declaring him an enemy of Rivers State and that he would be declared personal non grata through a press release by the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP.

There is an addage that says ‘ beating or killing your visitor/guest doesn’t show strength nor wisdom’
The actions by Gov. Fubara and the PDP are the most discourteous in history.
Attacking the Presidency, the National Assembly have repercussions. There are incentives and interventions that can easily be granted through these institutions to the state to further deepen our pursuit for development. Antagonistic posturing of Gov Fubara, the PDP to these institutions could be counter productive in our development drive for the good of our people. If the President can be this disrespected and the No 3 citizen- the Senate President threatened with impunity, investors will not have confidence in the state to secure their investments as the state will be seen from the prism of volatility and state sponsored violence. Aware that there is a nexus between STABILITY and DEVELOPMENT. Consequently, these actions are making our state less attractive to investors.

We call on Gov Fubara and the PDP to quickly take remedial steps to assuaging these missteps such as immediate implemention of all the items on the Presidential Proclamation for Peace, an unreserved apology to the President and commander-in-Chief- Bola Ahmed Tinubu by leading a delegation to the President. Authoring a letter of apology withdrawing the threats to the National Assembly through the Senate President- Godswill Akpabio will suffice.
These actions will reboot the system and return the state to the path of GOOD GOVERNANCE, STABILITY and DEVELOPMENT.

Signed
