One of the novelties in HENSARD UNIVERSITY: is the mounting of foundational courses for students of the citadel of learning. This is in line with John Dewey’s principles of education with the primacy of the maxim that students learn by doing. This is the pragmatic flavour embedded in the foundational Educational programmes at HU. Without question, a firm foundation is essential for new advances and success in academic programmes.
Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) emphasizes the significance of foundational education In the University system Foundation Studies for Undergraduate programmes are designed to better prepare students for serious academic work Foundational Education is a solid alternative if students do not have the qualifications for immediate entry to a degree course. Upon completion of one year Foundational studies, students may progress to the first year of a degree course.
Regardless of the programme Foundational students at HU will learn the subject-specific skills that are required to embark upon undergraduate degree. This is in addition to help students meet entry requirements, and many guarantee students who complete (with required grades) a place in the first year of a degree Programme.
More often than not, foundation courses are offered at the university campus, creating full access to the facilities, student services, clubs and others. At HU, students get a glimpse into university life and adjust to a new environment as compared to the demands of undergraduate studies.
The foundation programmes offer students the opportunity to develop skills for tertiary studies in their specific field, students will learn how to complete assessment tasks and how to apply their specialised knowledge directly to an undergraduate degree. Research has demonstrated that students who complete a foundation programme are more likely to adapt and cope better in their first-year tertiary education.
In Nigeria, English Language is a key entry requirement into tertiary Institutions. It is a significant component of foundational education designed to prepare students who are dificient in English. At HU, emphasis is placed on the teaching of English and Mathematics.
HENSARD UNIVERSITY is a preparatory ground for undergraduate programmes. This is a distinctive advantage, which reflects the universal character of University education.
At HU, all the academic and support staff have years of experience working in the higher education sector, helping students from all around the world to achieve their goals, while creating a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
The HU Foundation Programme is a more general programme, giving Students the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and research skills for an undergraduate degree programme in the following subject areas:
Computing
English Language
Mathematics
ICT
Media Production
Entrepreneurship
Cyber Security, etc
Now, HENSARD UNIVERSITY is set to commence the first academic session and students from Nigeria and abroad will take advantage of the robust foundational education programmes being mounted at the citadel of learning.
