University Of Africa, Bayelsa State, Plays Host To Federal Government ICT Delegates.
Last week, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Africa, Prof. Barclays Ayakoroma, played host to the Special Adviser to the President on ICT Development and Innovation, Mr Tokoni Peter Igoin, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Board Room at the University Campus.
The Federal Government ICT delegation was warmly received by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, The Registrar, Dr. Akpoebi Adesi; Dean of Faculties and other members of staff.
The SA in his remark appreciated the Management of the University for granting him audience at such a short notice. He noted that the visit is part of the activities of the President’s drive to bring the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ to realization by leveraging on technology, infrastructural development, digital skills development, innovative ecosystem and e-governance services, thus the collaboration sort with the University of Africa Toru-orua.
The Acting Vice-chancellor applauded the SA for bringing opportunities home to his indigents, while also commending the federal Government at her efforts to reach the youths through higher institutions as this would reduce the high rate of internet fraud.
He also pledged the support of the University to the initiatives of the Federal Government.
The Registrar also responding, appreciated the Bayelsa indigent SA for recognizing the University of Africa as a point to reach out to the youth in the state, adding that the energy the youths put into ‘yahooism’ can be rechanneled into more profitable ventures if the programmes outlined are fully implemented.
The team was taken on a tour of the ICT facilities within the University with a promise by the SA to replace some broken systems.
