Chapter 29

I couldn't even walk freely in the school any more as people kept looking at me and side talks were a new normal whenever people see me.

It was embarrassing and draining. The only people that stood by me were Philomina and Jessica. It was as if I am a bitch who easily use my body as a giveaway to guys.

Why are they finding it hard to see the video in a different direction? I kept asking myself but couldn't even understand it.

Sometimes, I had to cover my face so as not to be recognized while going out but it was unveiled after a little time and so I made up my mind to stay indoors until the day for the meeting with the school authorities.

I couldn't stop wondering what my parents would be going through emotionally back at home. I just hope they truly believe me and not just covering up because I'm their daughter.

I regretted not telling anyone about the rape. I would have had enough people who understood the matter. That's why it is good to let some people know about the bad things that happens to us because we really don't know what tomorrow entails and rape cases are not to be taken for granted. Just look at me now.

I couldn't stop myself from crying every single minute. I usually feel better whenever my friends were around but whenever they go out for lectures, I wouldn't stop crying. The whole thing was draining.

What broke me down 100% was when I saw that the video was uploaded on some funny websites with a headline that reads:

"SEX GIVEAWAY FROM FEMALE VERSITY STUDENT"

My video was all over the internet and there was nothing I could do.

Little by little anger began to grow within me. I began to see reasons why I must kill that useless lecturer and those boys and every single person that gets themselves involved in ruining my life.

Suddenly, the door went wide open.

"This girl still dey think" Philomina said

"What are you thinking about?" Jessica asked

I came back to myself after realising that they entered without my awareness

"Wetin dey happen? We enter but you didn't even know" Philomina said

"Sorry jare. Don't mind me" I gently replied

"Stand up, let's go out and eat" Jessica said

"Sorry I can't"

"Why?" Philomina asked

"Nothing! I just can't"

"Oh you are scared of what happens whenever you step out? Well my dear, they will continue doing it if you keep going back to your shell whenever they do it. So get up and do your thing. After all, you are not guilty of what they think of" Jessica said while trying to change her dress

"Only I and maybe two of you that believe my story. What do I do? The others are ignorant of it" I said while crying

Philomina came and hugged me and then she comforted me.

"If you are waiting for the world to believe your story in order to be yourself or to move forward in life, it means you will forever remain in your shell because the world doesn't care about your side of the story. As far as you know your story and your family believe you, then you are good to go alright?"

I looked at her with eyes filled with tears.

"Thank you so much (I looked at Jessica) thank you babe"

"Madam get up I dey hungry. Your thank you no be food" Jessica said as we all laughed, hugged each other and then zoomed out of the hostel.

We went to the same restaurant Eric took me to and that brought a lot of memories to my head and then suddenly, some girls and guys began to say and ask some provoking questions.

"Isn't she the giveaway girl?" One of the girls asked

"For sure she is" the other replied

They were actually saying it loud enough for everybody around to hear

"I think I should apply for the giveaway" one of the boys said and then the more they talk, the more I get angry and then I couldn't hold it any longer.

I stood up and went over to the last guy that talked and gave him a heavy slap. The slap attracted a lot of eyes and bodies towards us.

Before I could say jack! He got up and was about to hit me

"If you dare touch her, I will kill you by myself" a familiar voice said out loud.

I turned and there was Eric standing behind me.
