SO NA WHITE WOMAN BE BONAFIDE SOUTH AFRICAN?
Prominent Nigerians and Burna Boy also reacts to the South African Beauty Pageant Wahala.
Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy has responded to the recent crowning of a white South African woman, Mia Le Roux, as Miss South Africa, following a controversy that led to the withdrawal of Chidinma Vanessa Adetshina from the competition.
Mia Le Roux, a model hailing from the Free State, was named Miss South Africa in a prestigious event held at the Sun Bet Arena, Time Square, in Menlyn, Pretoria. Notably, Le Roux is the first Miss South Africa winner who is deaf and uses a cochlear implant. She will also make history as the first contestant with such a disability to participate in the Miss Universe 2024 competition in Mexico.
Burna Boy's reaction follows the withdrawal of Chidinma Adetshina, a 23-year-old law student. Adetshina, whose father is Nigerian and mother is a South African of Mozambican descent, stepped down from the pageant amid a wave of controversy surrounding her nationality. Some South Africans took to social media, questioning her citizenship and calling for her removal from the competition.
