Henry Dele Alake (born 6 October 1956) is a Nigerian journalist, activist, and technocrat currently serving as the Nigerian Minister of Solid Minerals. He previously served as the Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State from 1999 to 2007.

Education and Early Career:

Primary Education: Surulere Baptist Primary School, Lagos (1961-1967)
Secondary Education: Christ's School Ado Ekiti and Igbobi College, Lagos (1973-1975)
Higher Education: University of Lagos, where he earned a BSc in Political Science (1978) and an MSc in Mass Communications (1981).
Alake began his career as a journalist at Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation and Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation, eventually contributing to the establishment of Lagos Television (LTV 8) and working at Concord Press as a writer, editor, and columnist.
Political Career:

He served as the communication advisor to Chief M.K.O. Abiola during the 1993 presidential campaign.
After the annulment of the June 12 election, he was involved with the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) and faced persecution from the military regime.
Returned to Nigeria in 1995 and was appointed Special Adviser on Information and Strategy in Lagos State in June 1999, later becoming Commissioner for Information and Strategy.
In 2010, he sought a senatorial seat but faced internal party issues.
Appointed as Minister of Solid Minerals Development on 16 August 2023.
Awards and Associations:

Former vice-president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
Member of various professional bodies including the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Recipient of the ECOWAS International Gold Award (2000) and other recognitions.
Alake's career reflects significant contributions to journalism, politics, and public service in Nigeria.
