AWAKENING THE GIANT

Hausa People have really suffered in this country. While the rest of the country tribe experienced one colonialism, Hausa people were colonized twice: first by Fulanis under the ruse of Islamic jihad that favored only the Fulani descendants. This jihad saw to the end of Hausa royal houses and subsequently replaced by Fulanis who were never of royal blood.

Before the jihad, Hausas were already Muslims, they believe in oneness of Allah, the performed pilgrimage and observed all that is required to be Muslim. Their sin was that they practice African medical practices which is heavily spiritual, along this Islamic faith. They used charms to ward off evil, they used incantation to reset the mind of the patient and assure him that he will be healed. They used horn to extract bad blood which they still do till today.

The usurper became the emperor, the hero, the golden ancestor. How someone that came from Futa Jallon became the golden ancestor of the Hausa remains a mystery till tomorrow. Since then, political space become the exclusive right of the Fulanis. They own it by the right of conquest. Not physical conquest but mental conquest. For Hausa population still dwarfs that of Fulanis at any point in history. Seeing this, the cunning snake did not rest on its oars. He created a new identity out of the thin air to label people of that region. They are now HausaFulani tribe.

Yet, if an Hausa man marries a Fulani woman, his son cannot become the king or the emperor. It has to be strictly patrilineal. To achieve this, in-breeding was made part of the culture. Cousins, nieces and nephews can marry each other. Somethings that had been a taboo for millenia in Africa. The taboo has kept African gene varied and thereby stronger, as would be discovered by science much later. But NO, the creator of the natural world has broken his own natural law.

Today, if you are looking for peasants in the north, look no further, Hausa man is the face of it. Today if you are looking for the royalties in the north, look no further, the Fodian Jihadists represents that office.

Little by little this arrangement has crept southward, great kingdoms and people falling for the great ruse.
