"Many news outlets have reported the death of popular gospel singer, Aduke Ajayi Morounkola, also known as Aduke Gold. Aduke Gold passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, after a brief illness. Many people have been seeking to know the cause of the death of the gospel singer. In a chat with BBC Yoruba, her colleague and fellow gospel singer, Lekan Remilekun Amos, stated that he couldn't disclose the exact cause of Aduke's death. However, he revealed that Aduke Gold received treatment at UCH in Ibadan, including dialysis, before her passing."
Amos said that this dialysis treatment is usually given to patients who have kidney problems at the hospital, and that she had been receiving it for about two weeks.
"I heard that Aduke Gold received dialysis treatment at UCH, but ironically, that's where she lost her life."
According to Lekan Remilekun Amos, "What happened was that I couldn't say exactly how it happened, all I know is that UCH was her saving grace, but UCH was also where she died." "I just heard that they did dialysis for her, and whoever undergoes dialysis, it means their kidney is malfunctioning. I can't say exactly what led to her death, because we all know she was ill." Amos said the deceased never disclosed her health condition to anyone. He added that they were supposed to perform together at a concert next month, but she didn't make it.
She (Aduke Gold) was supposed to perform on Sunday, and I was supposed to perform on Saturday, at Lekki, in Lagos State, but she didn't make it to that day.
Amos continued, "We were supposed to perform on Sunday, and I on Saturday, at Lekki, Lagos, but she didn't make it to that day." "When I called her on Saturday to ask if she'd be performing on Sunday, they said she wasn't feeling well and was resting. I thought maybe she was just stressed or tired from the usual challenges we face as artists, because that's what I thought." "I last saw her in July, at Oke Baba Abiye in Ede, and she even ministered to people there. That was about four days before the end of July this year." "Aduke wasn't someone who liked to bother anyone, she was reserved. It was when she passed away that I heard she had been at UCH for some time."
Regarding the kind of person Aduke Gold was, Lekan Amos described her as a good person. He said Aduke Gold didn't have any bad habits that people would gossip about, she was a straightforward person, and she was also humble, that's how they usually composed her songs.

WHO IS ADUKE GOLD?
Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold, was born in 1990, precisely 34 years ago. She was born in Ilesa, Osun State, and was just 4 years old when she lost both parents. Initially, she was known as Aduke Penkẹlẹ when she started her music career because people loved her stage name. Aduke Gold benefited from a scholarship to attend university, courtesy of the then Commissioner for Education in Lagos State, Opeyemi Bamidele. Aduke Gold, the gospel singer, studied human resources, animal care, and makeup artistry, and worked as a police officer and a hairstylist before becoming famous for her music. Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold, faced many life challenges and tried to overcome them to become someone notable. What shocked many of her fans about her death was that she had endured many hardships from childhood. Actor Gbenga Adewusi, popularly known as Baba Itunu, introduced Aduke Penkele to a Lagos State television program about 10 years ago. That program was where Aduke became known to the world, and she also sang on other programs and events. Her song "Baba Ara" became popular after she sang it on a program.
"When Aduke Penkele's fame started growing, she changed her name to Gold. She said then that whatever people called her would manifest in her life. The young woman didn't like the name Penkele because it reminded her of suffering, so she chose Gold, which symbolized something precious and valuable, so that people would know her as something valuable. On Sunday, August 11, 2024, her life was cut short."
