Nigeria's Federal Health Minister, Dr. M.A. Majekodunmi.
Chief Moses Adekoyejo Majekodunmi, C.F.R., C.M.G., born on August 17, 1916, was a distinguished Nigerian gynecologist and obstetrician. He also served as the Health Minister during Nigeria's First Republic.
He received his early education at Abeokuta Grammar School and St. Gregory's College, Lagos, before advancing to Trinity College Dublin, where he earned a degree in Anatomy and Physiology in 1936. He further obtained a First-Class degree in Bacteriology and Clinical Medicine in 1940.
During his time in Ireland, he served as a resident physician at the National Children's Hospital and the Rotunda Hospital from 1941 to 1942.
In 1943, he joined the Federal Government Medical Services as a medical officer and established his medical practice.
He played a pivotal role in the founding of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and also established Saint Nicholas Hospital in Lagos, which commenced operations in March 1968.
Chief Moses Adekoyejo Majekodunmi transitioned to glory on April 11, 2012, at the age of 95.
