He was immortalized in a number of ways.

Streets and roads named after him in cities across Nigeria, In Lagos, Owerri, Aba, Calabar, Kaduna, Abuja, Awka, Port Harcourt, Umuahia, Onitsha, in Tanzania, etc.

His picture is on the ₦500 note.

The standard stadium in Enugu is named after him.

The main library at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka is named after him.

•A secondary school at Abagana in Anambra State is named after him.

The Federal University at Awka, is named after him.
